Detection of Prostate Cancer Precursor Cells

Currently, cancer progenitor cells are a relatively new area of research with great promise.

ABS is developing a blood-based diagnostic test designed to detect the presence of circulating prostate cancer precursor cells. They are thought to be the source of recurrent cancer since they are chemo- and hypoxia-resistant and are not eliminated by surgical or radiation treatments of the bulk tumor.

ABS has identified BCRP as a marker on the prostate cancer progenitor cell.
